Which HVAC system is the best option for my home/business??

If you are considering a new air conditioning system, you need to get the right recommendation for your home's needs and budget. This includes your new system's energy efficiency. Peace Heating and Air will help guide you through the process of selecting the best system for your home in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex.

WHAT IS SEER?

Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio (SEER) measures an air conditioning system’s cooling output divided by the electricity needed to achieve it. The higher the SEER, the more efficient the unit is.

What’s Considered a “Good” SEER Rating?

The number that’s considered a “good” SEER rating is constantly changing as air conditioning systems become more efficient overall.

For example, 10 years ago, an AC with a SEER rating of 10 would have been considered very efficient. Today, most new units will have a minimum of 14 SEER. Some states even have minimum SEER requirements for new units, so this is also worth considering.

Currently, a SEER of 14 is considered pretty efficient and is more or less the “standard” across the industry, but to reap more significant energy savings you may want to opt for a 16 SEER air conditioning system or higher.

(It’s also important to note that in January 2023, Texas will have a new seer rating requirement. More information on that in our next blog.)

Considering Your Needs

Peace Heating and Air professional technicians must consider more than just energy efficiency and SEER ratings when recommending a new system.

At Peace Heating and Air, we understand that budget is one of the most important aspects when upgrading an existing AC system. This may be especially true when the unexpected happens and replacing the heating and AC system wasn’t in the budget. Peace Heating and Air can provide you with a few price options so you can select the option that’s best for you, and your budget.

It’s also important for Peace Heating and Air to consider your home’s ductwork, ventilation and other existing equipment when recommending an AC unit with a specific SEER rating.

After all, a new unit will only reach peak energy efficiency if installed correctly and the home’s ductwork is configured for optimal airflow. With this in mind, Peace Heating and Air may have to make some changes or upgrades to the home’s existing ductwork and ventilation system for the new unit to deliver on its efficiency promises.

Ultimately, Peace Heating and Air Professional Service Technicians should carefully explain SEER ratings and the many factors affecting a unit’s efficiency to ensure that you are on the same page before choosing a new unit.

Setting up the right expectations up-front can make all the difference down the road.
